Ways of enhancing the investment attractiveness of solid mineral depositsof the non-licensed stock of prospects in the Russian Federation. A. Yu. Artemova, Chief Expert, FGUP VIMS A. M. Kochergin, Dr. Sc. (Eng.), Head of Department, FGUP VIMS The authors present the analysis of solid mineral deposits included in the non-licensed stock of prospects. The article contains statistics on the abundanceand quality of mineral reserves of the deposits under consideration. Geolog-ical, technological, economic and administrative factors are consi-dered,which negatively affect the investment attractiveness of the mineral depositsincluded in the RF non-licensed stock of prospects. The authors propose theways of its enhancement including the development of the system of prefer-ences on the part of the Government.Key words: non-licensed stock of prospects, geological knowledge of deposits, solid mineral reserves/resources, mineral quality requirements, feasibilitystudy, licensing, starting payment rate, auction charge, differential tax sys-tem.

Economic assessment of mining losses in solid mineral deposit developmentplanning and design documentationA. A. Ashikhmin, Prof. at MSMU, Dr. Sc. (Eng.), Academic Secretary, RosnedraCentral Committee for Solid Mineral Deposit Development, A. M. Kochergin, Dr. Sc. (Eng.), Chief, Department of Methodological Funda-mentals of the Assessment of Design and Technical Documentation for SolidMineral Deposit Development, FGUP VIMS, The article analyzes the current practice of the selection of scenarios for theimplementation of solid mineral (SM) deposit development projects varyingin mineral recovery rates in the context of economic consequences for thestate as the mineral wealth owner and for private mineral mining and explo-ration companies. The author offers recommendations on the perfection ofapproaches to economic assessment of mineral losses in mining for the min-eral wealth owner and on the application of the approach for audit and approvalof planning and design documentation.Key words: sustainable mineral wealth management; mineral losses in mining, cost estimate of losses; commercial, budget and public effectiveness of SMdeposit development projects; mineral wealth owners lost opportunities anddamages.

Specific features of exogenic uranium deposit prospecting in Namibia I. A. Ivlev, Chief Expert, Exploration and Prospecting Department, Atomred-metzoloto OAOThe Langer Heinrich formation is most promising area for the discovery ofcommercial-scale calcrete uranium deposits. Its measures host the same-name uranium deposit. In terms of probability of finding any calcrete uraniumdeposit the western part of the country is divided into four zones. The authorpoints out a probability of discovery of new uranium occurrences in the areasof predicted paleovalley structures with deposits of the Langer Heinrich andTsondab formations. Key words: calcretes, paleochannels, uranium deposits, Namibia

    G. S. Korobeinik1, T. N. Nemchenko11Vernadsky Institute of Geochemistry and Analytical Chemistry, RAS2 Lomonosov Moscow State UniversityThe issue of oil genesis has been studied in the context of organic chemistry. The authors present the results of the analytical research into oils of the fieldsin the Volga-Ural petroleum province (PP), which suggests the conclusion onthe organic origin of Devonian oils.Key words: petroleum geochemistry, crystalline basement, carbon isotopeabundance, pristane/phytane, oil biomarkers, gas-source rocks, petroleumalkanes.

Unconventional approach to the development of the Murayevnya quartz sanddeposit in compliance with the requirements of sustainable mineral resourcesmanagement A. V. Saveliev, General Director, GOK Murayevnya OAOL. P. Leiderman, Director, Engineering, NTTs-Geotekhnologiya OOO The article contains the description of the deposit and mined mineral products. The practice is discussed of technical documentation preparation in compli-ance with the requirements of sustainable mineral resources management interms of minimization of mineral losses in mining. Unconventional approachis shown to the selection of planning and design solutions with due accountfor geological conditions of the deposit. Within the framework of the planningand design work the Recommended Practices have been elaborated for theplanning, rate setting and accounting of losses in mining. The application ofthe Recommended Practices would ensure the control of mineral re
