Kada ste u Beogradu, moete jesti, spavati, etati i govoriti u oba sveta i, na vae iznenaenje, svi e vas razumeti.

One may wonder why to come to Belgrade. Why come to Belgrade when world is full of beautiful plac-es yet to be visited, or even ex-plored, when Western Balkan capital was, or still is a city on cross roads unknown to the traveler who would prefer places that look more like home. Why come to Belgrade when you live east of south from it, when there are better places looking more west-ern than Belgrade. The difference is the reason. Belgrade is more eastern than the west and more west-ern than the east. Belgrade is always some-thing in between. Somewhere in between, where anything is possible and where things

that cannot be put together perfectly mach. Belgrade watches over two rivers, over the hills that keep an eye over the centuries of what was always the big divide in Europe, silently harboring those who are used crossing both worlds. When in Belgrade you can eat, sleep, walk and talk in both worlds and to your as-tonishment, everyone can understand you. It will help you to understand better even the place you came from. When in Belgrade you can have best time of our life if you only admit the fact that you deserve to try something new.

When in Belgrade you can learn history other than one which you have been thought in school, the history of common people, in

town that bares marks of distant times when maybe even your fellow countrymen have their part. When in Belgrade you can smell, eat and enjoy food as it once was even in your kitch-en. Organic food that was once called just food. When in Belgrade you can make friends ev-ery time you feel like it, maybe even some-times when you think you don` t need more friends. When in Belgrade you can see nature as it comes, never mind the city and its traffic. When in Belgrade you can become an art-ist. That` s what our town did to all of us, and why sometimes few of us really became worth remembering. Finally, when in Belgrade, you don` t just fell different, you will become different, and that is what counts.

1926. godine Gradska uprava zatvara Veliku pijacu i otvara tri nove: Ze-leni venac, Kaleni guvno i Jovanova pijaca.

History Created in 1824, the very first Belgrade market ,named after Saint Andrew, was in the vicinity of the road for Stamboul, at the Students Square, which was then the cen-ter of social life. As agreed, both Serbs and Turks were able to present their products and soon the Great Market became the main trading place in Belgrade. Soon after, other markets sprung up in the city. These included the Flower market, the Fish, Livestock and Grain market in Zemun and the market at Senjak.
