Grant application season is in full swing! Right now, we are accepting competitive grant applications for Early Childhood, Individual Artists, Small Arts Organizations, the JoAnn Crisp-Ellert Fund and Putnam County. Weve redesigned our How to Apply page on the website to streamline the application process; you can check it out here: http://www.jaxcf.org/apply.

The 2015 Weaver Philanthropic Initiative class was launched last week with very well-attended opening reception at Cindy & Dan Edelmans home, followed by the opening retreat on Saturday, January 24. Fifteen emerging philanthropists are participating in this years program which will meet monthly between now and June.

The LGBT Community Fund for Northeast Florida had its opening retreat on January 25. This second giving circle is beginning the year with $66,000 available for grantmaking, and is planning several recruiting events for this spring to attract new donors.

The Womens Giving Alliance welcomed 12 Delores Barr Weaver fellows at a special reception last week. These individuals have been selected to enhance the diversity of the organization and cultivate members under 40. Speaking of WGA, its 2015 Calendar of Events publication is now complete. See all WGAs upcoming events by going to their home page (www.womensgivingalliance.org ) and downloading the 2015 Calendar of Events from the lefthand menu. By the way, WGA just welcomed its 31st legacy member.

As you know, The Community Foundation has been a long-term supporter of Local Initiatives Support Corporation (LISC) Jacksonville and the work it is doing in our most challenged neighborhoods. Its part of a national effort, which was recently highlighted in a Washington Post article that we thought youd find interesting. http://www.washingtonpost.com/business/get-there/pulling-people-out-of-poverty-with-one-on-one-help/2015/01/22/5da3be1e-a294-11e4-9f89-561284a573f8_story.html.

The Strategic Planning Task Force, led by Deb Pass Durham, met in January to kick off the year-long process. The group will be meeting regularly this spring and summer, and youll be getting updates at each Trustees meeting.

As planned, we are offering a dozen area nonprofits all the associated videography that was captured in the creation of our 50th anniversary productions. Each nonprofit has been notified that may access the complete library of HD raw video pertaining to their organization, and we will help direct them so that they are able to use this very high quality product to help promote their mission. The recipient nonprofits are:

Barnabas Clara White Mission Communities in Schools Douglas Anderson School of the Arts Duval County Public Schools ElderSource Jacksonville Public Education Fund Jacksonville Symphony Orchestra Jacksonville Zoo and Gardens Jessie Ball duPont Fund LISC Nonprofit Center of Northeast Florida

Dont miss the Donors Forum on February 10 at The River Club! Right now, we expect about a dozen potential Jacksonville City Council candidates will be in attendance as Nina, Sherry Magill of the duPont Fund, Rena Coughlin of the Nonprofit Center for Northeast Florida, and philanthropist and former board member Laurie Dubow educate the candidates about the importance of the nonprofit and philanthropic community.
