K

BULLETIN OF THE SERBIAN GEOGRAPHICAL SOCIETY 2005. LXXXV - . 1 YEAR 2005 TOME LXXXV - N 1 * : , , . , . . , , . : , , , . Abstract: New world order and rearrangement of Europe transform the position of Balkan region instead as the crossroad between East and West, it is more often included into the area of Western influence. In European relations, developed core is gradually spreading toward periphery removing the traditional Balkan culture. The europeisation of Balkans and spreading of Western European civilizations circle gives the arguments that the term Balkans should be replaced with the term Southeastern Europe. The europeisation or balkanization is not geopolitical but civilization choice in front of all Balkan nations. Key words: Balkans, Southeastern Europe, cultural geography, geopolitics.

UDC 911.2 /.3 (497) (4)

, , , , , ( ., 2000-). . . , () . . , , . - - " ", , , " ", , *

, , , 3/3,

210 - . Balkans, according to its physical-geographical and cultural-geographical characteristics, is not Asian, European or some other mixed Eurasian sphere, but the cultural European region with authentic cultural, economic and political forces. Those forces are researched in this article with the conclusion that the own forces and openness for cooperation with neighboring focuses of cultural, economic and political power are factors of progress of Balkan nations and states.
