    Other advantages oftheEPSsystem are:greater positioning precision (max error of0.05mmthanks totheelectric motors positionresolver)compared toamechanical rear derailleur inwhichprecision is tied tothecable movement andthereturnspring inthederailleur.constant frontandrear derailleur action speed,byeliminating cable frictionsoft action andlimited run oftheleverspossibility ofbraking andchanging gearssimultaneouslythedesignoftheframeis nolonger dictated bytheneed forsimple cable runs

    AdjustmentoftherearandfrontderailleursThecustomercanadjustthereferenceposition oftherearand/orfrontderailleurthroughtheadjustmentprocedure.Adjustmentoftherearderailleurisdonemainlyintheeventofawheelchange.Thismightberequiredifthewheelthatisfittedhasthecasettepositioneddifferentlyrelativetothereardropout.Inthecaseofadjustmentsoftherearandfrontderailleur,wecanpositionthechainonwhicheverchainringwewish.Witheachpressingofbuttons2or3,thesystemcarriesoutafixedmovementofabout0.25mmifweactontherearderailleur,andabout0.1mmifweactonthefrontderailleur.

    AdjustmentoftherearandfrontderailleursOnceadjustmentiscompleted,thesystemwillimplementachangetothepositionsestablishedforallofthesprockets(orchainrings) withacorrectionequaltothatresetwiththeadjustment.Forexample,ifthedistanceofthefirst3indexpointsfromthedropoutis:12.40 16.60 20.4mmafteracorrectionofabout0.25mmwithlever3towardthedropout,thenewpositionswhichtherearderailleurassumeswillbeabout:12.15 16.35 20.15mm

    Thisprocedureallowsthesystemtolearnthepositionsofthechainonthe2nd and10thsprockets,fromwhichitcanthencalculatethepositionsoftheothersprockets.Duringtheresetproceduremovementsoftherearderailleurtakeplacecontinuously,andnotwithfixedincrimentsasduringadjustment,dependingonthetimethatrearderailleurlevers2and3areheldin.Itispossibletoveryaccuratelymodifytheposition,byjustafewhundredthsofamillimetre.
